Ashton Kutcher

Read about Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher and the Tiger Blood disease on US Celebrity Blog.

Another Hollywood divorce, this time of a notable marriage which appeared to be strong in spite of some controversy which surrounded it from the start.
Since the two stars married, the public’s focus was on the age difference between Demi and Ashton. Much less was said about the difference in their professional achievements at the time they entered into the union. In the end, it wasn’t either one of the factors that put an end to the marriage.

Demi Moore started her acting career at 19 by joining the cast of the TV show “General Hospital”. She quickly became a member of the high-living, boozing and hell-raising original “brat pack” of the 80s. Her acting out may have been her belated reaction to the traumas of her childhood. (Her mother was abandoned by her father even before Demi was born. Her stepfather was a violent drunk who repeatedly uprooted and abused the family until he committed suicide.) Sure enough, the wild lifestyle and substance abuse caught up with her and threatened her career. Like many before and after her, Demi found herself on crossroads: she’s gotten fired from a job on St. Elmo’s Fire for reporting to work “high”. Unlike anyone I can think of, Demi sought help; spent one week in treatment and swore off drugs and alcohol FOREVER.
Soon after she took action to re-invent herself. She married Bruce Willis and started family. To establish herself as an actress who can be taken seriously, she used a mix of smart publicity stunts, her naturally stunning looks and genuine talent. She succeeded at every level.
She stripped on David Letterman’s show and posed nude while pregnant for Vanity Fair.
She starred in films that cemented her position in Hollywood. Some of them are:
Ghost (1990)
Nothing But Trouble (1991)
Mortal Thoughts (1991)
The Butcher’s Wife (1991)
A Few Good Men (1992)
Disclosure (1994)
The Scarlet Letter (1995)
Now and Then (1995)
The Juror (1996)
Striptease (1996)
G.I. Jane (1997)
Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003)
Her marriage to Bruce Willis – they divorced and maintain a good relationship – produced three extra-ordinary girls. (A singly mother after the divorce she moved away from Hollywood and dedicated herself entirely to raising her children.) Her return to Hollywood was triumphant with her role in Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.
Throughout her life Demi has asserted and proven time after time her sound judgment, strong character and her commitment to values she holds dear.

Ashton Kutcher is a rural Iowa native who as a University student was discovered by a talent scout for a modeling job. Few years later he made his acting debut on The 70s Show. In 2003 Kutcher created the MTV show “Punk’d”.
His repeated attempts at breaking into movies – so far – remain unsuccessful. Among his many unremarkable movies are: Down To You; Dude, Where’s My Car?; Texas Rangers; Just Married; My Boss’s Daughter; Cheaper by the Dozen; The Butterfly Effect; Guess Who; A Lot Like Love; The Guardian; Bobby; What Happens in Vegas…; Spread; Valentine’s Day and most recently: Killers.
Ashton Kutcher is well known for his involvement with President Obama’s foreign policy efforts and for his huge Twitter following which may – or may not – remain huge much longer due to Ashton’s recent defense of Penn State football coach Joe Paterno who was fired for his role in a child sex abuse scandal. (Ashton was not aware of the reason for Joe Paterno firing at the time of posting the unfortunate tweet.)

It appears that the highlight of Ashton’s acting career is his current stint as a the replacement for Charlie Sheen on TV’s Two and Half Men.

Demi and Ashton shared a lot together: a family (he became a stepfather to her 3 daughters); religion (Kabala); performances (i.e. on Saturday Night Live); public appearances and some beliefs (in 2010, as a couple they established “The Demi and Ashton Foundation” – DNA – to eliminate child sex slavery worldwide.)

This is how the divorce was announced.

Demi Moore stated:
“As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.”

Ashton Kutcher tweeted:
“Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail.”

One of the statements expresses personal values; the other dwells on the institution of marriage. The first statement required intellect, soul-searching and courage; the second… a publicist.
Lesson for all of us?
1/ “Tiger blood” is clearly a contagious disease.
2/ Substance should marry substance.
