Gwyneth Paltrow: She's Got It Right! With the upcoming release of the new film "Country Strong" many eyes are focused on one of its stars Gwyneth Paltrow. "Country Strong" features an impressive cast that includes Tim McGraw, Garrett Hedlund, Leighton Meester, Sean Symons, Kayla Perkins, Ed Bruce, Jeffrey Buckner, and others. But it is Gwyneth and her hidden - until recently - talent for country music that captures most attention. We all knew that she is an accomplished actress and Academy Award Winner, but who knew that she can sing country?! Well, perhaps that's the word I've been looking for, Gwyneth can. From all we know about her, she is fulfilled as an artist and as a person. She's made choices for herself on a professional and personal level that seem to serve her well and withstand the test of time.
Born (in 1972) into a creative family (her father Bruce Paltrow was a well-known film director and her mother is the popular actress Blythe Danner) Gwyneth grew up with the acting bug and received acting training early. At the beginning of her career - like any other young actor - she took on numerous roles, some in less than impressive productions. With time she established herself as not only a pretty face (1998: One of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People) but a capable artist. She played the title role of Emma Woodhouse in Emma (1996); had roles in The Pallbearer (1996), Great Expectations (1998), A Perfect Murder (1998) and then was offered the role of Viola in Shakespeare in Love (1998) for which she received an Oscar. Since then she’s been more selective in her choice of roles.
In 1999, Paltrow starred with Matt Damon in The Talented Mr. Ripley. In 2000, she starred in the comedy-drama Duets, directed by Bruce Paltrow, her father. She's been the female lead opposite Ben Affleck in the romantic Bounce. In 2001, Paltrow bravely donned a fat suit for a role in the comedy Shallow Hal. She's been a part of the all-star cast of The Royal Tenenbaums (alongside Gene Hackman, Anjelica Huston, Bill Murray, Danny Glover, Ben Stiller, Luke and Owen Wilson. 2002 brought Gwyneth Paltrow staring roles in Possession and A View From the Top. After the death of her father in 2002, Gwyneth withdrew from several film projects. She returned to the big screen in 2003 playing the poet Sylvia Plath in Sylvia with sensitivity and passion. Gwyneth Paltrow continued to play leading roles in 2005's Proof and 2006's Running with Scissors. In the rare interval between dramatic roles, she took on a supporting role in 2008's Iron Man with Robert Downey Jr. In Two Lovers Paltrow starred opposite Joaquin Phoenix in 2009. Her latest performance in “Country Strong” will undoubtedly earn her both, accolades and awards.
After dating Brad Pitt (they were engaged and eventually, broke up) and Ben Affleck, Gwyneth married Chris Martin the front man of the English band Coldplay. They have two children: daughter named Apple (for her perfection) and a son named Moses (in honor of Gwyneth's late father).
Like I said, Gwyneth Paltrow's got it: a wise approach to life, love and her career.
